Welcome to the Committee page. Here you will find personal profiles of the people who are going to be working with you & for you. Next meeting of Committee: TBA The Annual General Meeting was held in June 2006 and
the following members have been elected or re-elected:
JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND PROFILES Chairman - The Chairman is responsible for all aspects of conduct of all Club members and the day-to-day control of the club including financial aspects and the management of staff. He is to ensure that Club members adhere to the English Volleyball Association (EVA) - the governing body - rules and regulations regarding the safe control of the Club and its members. The Chairman also acts as the Club Child Welfare Officer (CCWO). The CCWO’s duties include: helping the Club follow the guidelines laid down by the EVA Child Protection Policy and Good Practice document; ensure new initiatives and information is communicated to the Club and its members; ensure that all Club staff working with young people have received Child Protection training. PROFILE:
Gus Goodwin first got involved with volleyball in 1986. He quickly established
himself as a competent middle hitter and represented South Yorkshire in the His main
aim is to establish a Centre for Excellence for Volleyball for both Junior and
Senior players in the southern part of the County. This would then lead to the
re-introduction of a HONORARY SECRETARY – The Honorary Secretary acts as a focal point for all aspects of the Club administration. This includes: liaison with the EVA, LVA and other agencies. She is responsible for all correspondence received by the Club and ensuring that all necessary actions are taken. She also is responsible for the taking of minutes at Committee meetings and the arrangement of these meetings. The Honorary Secretary is also responsible for the collation and safekeeping of all official papers that require retention by the club i.e. Risk assessment proforma’s, membership forms, child protection questionnaires etc. They also maintains a contacts database of all Members. PROFILE: TREASURER – The Treasurer’s primary duty is the maintenance of the Club Accounts in accordance with current accountancy policy. PROFILE: Jenny Goodwin is a part-qualified ACCA student and works in a busy budgets department at a local business. She has no formal links with volleyball – apart from being married to Gus! She is however a keen Netball player and is Captain of the Barge and Bottle Grantham netball team. She is also a mother of two young children and enjoys keeping fit and swimming. HEAD COACH - The primary role of the Head Coach has changed for the new season 2004/5, he is to take full responsibility for the club’s Junior coaching sessions. He will mentor and guide the Club’s Assistant Junior coaches he is to liaise and advise the Junior coordinators on the development of our junior membership. Penny Ashcroft is our Junior Co-ordinator for Primary Schools in the
Sleaford Catchment area – this currently is 12 establishments with a potential
1000 children. Penny is a schoolteacher at PROFILE: Beverley Hood is our Junior
Co-ordinator for Secondary Schools in the Sleaford Catchment area – currently
4 establishments with a potential 600 children. Beverley is head of the PE
department at the FIXTURES AND PUBLICITY MEMBER – This dual post covers a wide and varied field of activities. Primarily he acts as a focal point for all aspects of arranging the clubs fixtures list for the forthcoming season, this task requires him to have an in depth knowledge of the all LVA rules and regulations regarding the arrangements of both league and cup matches are ensuring their adherence. Just as important the post requires him to act as the focal point for all aspects of publicity available to the club – including the use of Internet and other media sources. He is required to complete post-fixture match reports and submits them to a wide variety of local media. He is also asked to actively work to find additional funding to support the Club development by seeking sponsorship from the business sector. PROFILE: Alan Terry started
his volleyball career while serving in the RAF. Being a fireman always ensured
that he was never far away from a volleyball court. Learnt the game through the
years and played Station level for 15 years before his exit from the service.
Played alongside Gus Goodwin in a winning Cranwell side in the 90’s and it was
Gus’s gentle persuasion that got Alan involved in setting up the club.
”Living in Sleaford allowed me to put something back into the local
community”. Originally played for the successful BLUEProfile.com team, but
this season has seen him take a lead with the development side and has helped
them progress to the top of Division 2 of the Lincs Volleyball League. Resides
with his wife and young son who have no interest in the sport but are keen to
offer their support when needed. ASSISTANT JUNIOR COACHES – At present the Club has two Assistant Junior Coaches, who are responsible for running the junior sessions. They act as part of a team of coaches under the guidance of the Head Coach, and prepare each session beforehand. They are instrumental to the success of junior development in the Club and are both in the process of obtaining EVA coaching awards Profiles: Will soon be placed for the under mentioned people
